Biking through the Berkeley campus today, I passed happy crowds of young folks in their graduation regalia, gowns and sashes and mortarboards, walking with their families and friends.

I love graduation season. It’s important to mark serious accomplishments and hard work!

It’s also a reminder that, however performatively insular, know-nothing, ahistorical, anti-science our political leaders are, a generation of smart and dedicated scholars is making maps to a better future.

if you weren't able to tell from my recent posts, i am well beyond my Fuck This threshold at current job and would like new job

i do computer things, mostly with lots of database or distributed systems (regretful); looking to *not* use or build LLM things. where does one find such a job these days?

strongly considering pivoting into tech-adjacent things; maybe software/tech nonprofits, civic tech, or just some "normal" company that has a solid in-house software org (eg capital one, though i'd prefer not-bank)?
