Imagine how corrupt you have to be as a Republican Attorney General to get impeached by a Republican legislature in TEXAS
@juddlegum and the vote was 121-23 💀
@juddlegum Good job TX - now do Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott
@juddlegum
Imagine the number of corrupt Republican politicians in Texas lined up to replace him. #USPolitics is an industry not a civil process.
#Democracy
@juddlegum The Redcaps will besiege the Texas Senate. I’m not going to get excited yet.

@juddlegum

I think we're going to see lots of, "principled" infighting in the GOP as the 2024 election draws closer, in a desperate(imo) effort by the GOP to appear reasonable.

@juddlegum Impeachment means nothing in this day and age! Hell, you can even run for President after TWO impeachments, indicted on 34 counts in NY and being held libel for defamation in a rape case. Do you really think they will convict and remove him from office? #MOSCOWMITCH is on the phone to give them some pointers on how to give the TX Senators advice on how to avoid doing their duties!!
@juddlegum I'm guessing this attorney general's actions probably impacted the standing of his fellow Republicans. He upset the applecart and now has to pay the price.
@juddlegum Much to everyone's surprise, it appears that there actually IS a bottom that Republicans are willing to sink to in their corruption and criminality. It seems Mr Paxton has put his own dent in that bottom.
@juddlegum I read through the articles of impeachment. It’s weird; there’s nothing even close to attempting a coup, and yet he gets impeached by his own party.
@juddlegum They’re all hoping impeaching Paxton will keep the focus off themselves.
@juddlegum it's been 0 days since Texas has been a fucking National embarrassment.
@juddlegum TX didn’t grow a value spine, Paxton started shit about the House speaker conducting a session drunk off his ass. He pissed off the wrong Republican and got ejected from the boys club.
@juddlegum And it only took him being under indictment since 2015 on securities fraud charges relating to activities prior to taking office🤬
@juddlegum just wondering how his wife in the house voted....
Seriously?
@juddlegum I hate to say this, but they impeached him not because he's corrupt, but because they see him threatening them.

@juddlegum
I want to know what he really did to be impeached by #Republicans, especially Texas Republicans.

I mean, the GOP never cared about corruption, theft, sexual assault, pedophilia, or treason before.

@juddlegum @KingShawn I keep saying the same thing to myself over and over. He also was basically threatening his party members saying if they got rid of him all his anti-Biden cases would stop. Did they really want to risk that? Yeah, they did. That’s how BAD he is.
@juddlegum The gop knows how detestable they are and how badly they will lose. They commit treason and subvert America while denying our voting, health, and freedom rights.
@juddlegum pretty confident he was not corrupt enough, and that was unacceptable.
@juddlegum I feel like we aren't getting the whole story here.

@juddlegum. I wonder if they suddenly removed him after all these years because they have someone worse waiting in the wings.

Electoral votes are everything.

@juddlegum Yes - my husband & I were remarking on that. #Paxton must be an extraordinary sleazebag
@juddlegum Perhaps it was because he was pro women's and trans rights?
@juddlegum Don't get too excited, though, it's fairly unlikely the state Senate will muster a 2/3 vote to uphold Paxton's impeachment. Unlike the more "moderately conservative" House, the Senate includes a lot of fall-off-the-cliff Trumpian wing nuts such as Paxton has cultivated for years for protection. These include LT. Gov. Dan Patrick and Paxton's own wife, who ought to recuse herself from the vote but, I'll bet, will not...
@juddlegum
He should have been sharing the loot with the rest of them, then it would be OK. Red state voters only care that politicians hate the same people.
@juddlegum The weird thing is I keep trying to find something which _explains_ what they're impeaching him over. Lots and lots of words about the mechanics, and everybody's feelings. But WTH are the actual events behind it? Every time an article gets close, it fades into a word salad deniability cloud.
@juddlegum
We don't have to imagine it here in Texas. We see it every day. Corruption on a vast scale is interwoven into every aspect of life, public and private.

@juddlegum

This does rather puzzle me; what did he do that was TOO MUCH FOR THE GOP??

Hard to imagine. Unless there was something special going on... 🤔

@juddlegum I'm surprised they still had legislation with instructions to do so.

@juddlegum I imagine you'd have to be as corrupt as… well, as a Texas Republican.

Srsly, this can't be about the corruption, or they'd have to organize a circular guillotine squad. He must have pissed off Harlan Crow or some other high-ranking uomo d'onore.

@juddlegum … approximately some damned corrupt x 3 …
