Elon Musk changed Twitter's algorithm to feature his own tweets and now he's using that power to promote his preferred presidential candidate.
@juddlegum
People just need to leave Twitter.
As bad as it is, it's only going to get worse.

@TCatInReality @juddlegum I'm deleting my three Twitter accounts (haven't used them since December) Wednesday 7PM ET. Spread the word #DeleteTwitter524

If you're on the Pacific coast do it at 4:20 PST and kiss his fashy ass good bye with a fat one as you do it.

@enmodo @juddlegum
Excellent!

Twitter is not safe. We need to move our communities to safer ground.

@TCatInReality @juddlegum at this point it goes beyond not safe. Being there is actively enabling the enemies of the people. If you're on Twitter now you might as well be on Truth Social or Gab now.
@enmodo @TCatInReality @juddlegum remember it's always 4:20pm somewhere on Earth... 😂
@juddlegum Twitter needs to be politically neutral! No censorship! No favorites!

@adamierymenko @juddlegum

nice try buddy, but i doubt you're going to convince anyone here that you're not, in fact, advocating for the same apathetic, catastrophic collapse of conscience most of us left Twitter to avoid.

censorship - determined and unflinching moderation - is critical to arresting the influence of harmful extremism.
there is no place for 'political neutrality' when the term 'politics' is co-opted to excuse unconscionable, vicious online abuse on very specific ideological or religious points.

if you're genuinely just voicing your objection to The Smiler's inevitable involvement with Muck, then i apologise, but suggest you find some other way to express your concerns.

@juddlegum oh and let's not forget he had staff try to poorly cover up his algorithm changes.

@juddlegum

It's like the good ol' days of the Railroad Robber Barons and newspaper magnates.

The optimist in me says maybe my kids will get to live their space in the trough of this cycle, but it assumes we're nearing a peak.

@juddlegum Preferential treatment of any federal candidate would likely run afoul of FEC regulations unless is is reported as a contribution.

@juddlegum

It's a propaganda outlet and anyone still on #twitter is helping spread that propaganda... you, too Judd.

@juddlegum I'm not American, but even i can see this is lawsuit waiting to happen.
@juddlegum it’s Succession on steroids

@juddlegum

Nothing to do with free speech, with propaganda, yes…

@juddlegum
It should not surprise anyone that the billionaire is going to use his social media platform to push his political agenda after suffering through Fox doing the same thing for decades.

@juddlegum

Elon Musk changed Twitter's algorithm to feature his own tweets and now he's using that power to promote his preferred presidential candidate.

@juddlegum How would that need to be declared as a political donation?
@juddlegum Those who refuse to leave are bordering on complicity.
@juddlegum that's why when he first get Twitter, I blocked him directly.
I was expecting something like that.
@juddlegum He's also making it impossible to delete a twitter account😖
@juddlegum
Oh great, Musk has now gone full on loopy and thinks he’s the Earl of Warwick.
@juddlegum Didn't Google get somewhat in trouble with antitrust laws when it came out that they control results so you see websites favorable to them and their partners first? I feel like changing an algorithm so that your candidate choices and business choices are shown above others falls under that same category. But I doubt that the current House will look into it
@juddlegum these nervous that the Democrats will not win in 2024? the economy will work better with the Republican Party
@juddlegum
I must be using Twitter wrongly. I never see his tweets unless someone I follow retweets them (and that's rare😉 )
@juddlegum unless you blocked him 😂
@juddlegum toxic, moronic richness.
@juddlegum Maybe he should have bought Parler.
@juddlegum given the De Santis' campaign launch, Elon's favorite candidate is probably Trump😄
@juddlegum promote to who exactly? bots?
@juddlegum A candidate with a history of giving targeted tax breaks to political allies, rescinding them when he feels they’ve crossed him, and then bragging about it in writing.
@juddlegum feels like that would be some kind of political donation
@juddlegum Funny because I do not see any of them.
@juddlegum @briankrebs which explains why I keep seeing his tweets even though I don’t follow him nor do I give a flying fuck about this guy.
@juddlegum BREAKING: Right wing schmuck uses his right wing site to promote right wing shit.

@juddlegum This is a consquence of what is called "Privatisierte Rechtsdurchsetzung" in German: https://media.ccc.de/v/33c3-8040-privatisierung_der_rechtsdurchsetzung

Privatized law enforcement means that more and more law enforcement is not enforced in a constitutional way but by private actors. The state tolerates such situations as it likes to delegate responsibility and hopes problems might be solved by others this way.

Privatisierung der Rechtsdurchsetzung

media.ccc.de
@juddlegum
Still, corporations, journalists, and news-outlets keep supporting this abomination?

@juddlegum It will make no difference because the base doesn’t want Trump policies from a less compromised politician, they want Trump because he is vile.

DeSantis won’t replace Trump because he doesn’t dominate anyone, he can’t even bully Disney.

@hallam @juddlegum it would be nice to believe you but the reliability of DS getting elected in FL kind of shows that he's electable.
@juddlegum And yet he squawks about free speech.
