Today, two super-desirable, achingly beautiful Chapron Citroën DS models for the price of one. The frontal view is of a 1965 Le Dandy two-door hard-top coupé (no doubts about that classification), while the rear view is of a two-door convertible Décapotable model. Both snapped at #TechnoClassica Essen in 2014. I believe the still-rare #DS Décapotable was the most common of the #Chapron DS conversions. More stunning cars from #Citroen to come. #WeirdCarMastodon #davidsdailycar

I happened across this good lookin' Citroen in Lenk im Simmental Switzerland 5 or 6 years ago.

This may have been the first time that my daughter said, "Daaaaad! You're being weird taking pictures of someone's car!" And well now she says it all the time :)

At any rate, I don't know much about these oddball French autos, but this one looked like someone spent a lot of hours carefully loving it :) absolutely top notch!

A couple of things that make this rather special. DS's are unibody cars, and have been considered 'quirky'. Here in the USA, they quite rapidly became financially unsound as daily drivers. The market quickly stratified to a tiny number of perfect cars, a small number of good cars, and a vast swath of dilapidated shit. Folks gave up on the dilapidated shit and let it it sit until it rotted or was cubed up. Not like a Porsche where there is *always* someone who will buy it to restore. To say they are rare here is an understatement. I've never legit seen a convertible DS in the wild.
Ever.
In 50 years.

So, to see pics of a DS convertible in nicer-than-showroom condition, in the wild, in an area with lots of snow and likely many years of salted roads... it's a big deal.
