Aprilia, an 11-year-old girl, dies after being hit by a car while cycling.
She was riding her bicycle when she was hit by a car: a 11-year-old girl died this afternoon in Aprilia, in the north of the Latina province, according to initial reconstructions. Around 3:30 PM, the 11-year-old, riding her bike, was merging onto via del Genio Civile from via Tesino. She was hit by a 56-year-old Italian woman driving a Citroen C1. The driver stopped after the impact to provide assistance.
Immediately after the accident, 118 rescuers arrived on the scene, including an helicopter ambulance, but despite the speed of response, it was only possible to confirm the girl’s death. The section of road was closed while local police officers conducted investigations to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident.
The driver was subjected to the required tests, including an alcohol test and a drug test. Investigators also ordered the seizure of the woman’s cell phone. On Thursday, the public prosecutor’s office in Latina will assign the autopsy to the forensic medical examiner.
