I guess there was a whole nasty racist Thing about Lizzo being in Mandalorian which I totally missed because I quit Twitter, and I’ve honestly never been happier with the decision. Also, she was amazing and I had better see cosplays.
There was a whole year when I would only karaoke Lizzo on the way to client engagement and @malanalysis got to bear the brunt of that.

@hacks4pancakes its always weird when something from main-Twitter-stream comes 'round & hits you like a 2x4 because you've ironically decided to remain steadfast to your values.

Also WTF is this thing about Lizzo, it's the first I've heard of it.

@deweyritten if you Google anything, anything about that episode you will get incels and or racism. I’m surprised you haven’t seen, it’s been a bit.
@hacks4pancakes @deweyritten seen far too much criticism about it being a 'woke' episode. Was there an LGBTQ+ message I missed? Don't think so. Did they tackle the challenging "are sentient droid analogous to slaves" topic? Not really, and please don't think too hard about it. Did they focus on Lizzo & Jack Blacks acting/ celebrity cameo and whether it meshes with the Star Wars Universe? No. So what other anti-"Woke" topics are there? It falls back to the now common use of "Woke", wanting to voice vile opinions in a way that is socially acceptable. In this case, objecting to the colour of someone's skin, their gender, and playing someone in a position of power.

@JJTurner
With a side of abuse from the "manosphere" types for having the gall to cast a bigger woman as anything except the butt of a joke.

@hacks4pancakes @deweyritten

@hacks4pancakes and I bet it's from people who enjoyed the prequel trilogy.

Anyone who liked Jar Jar Binks doesn't get an opinion on whether they're ruining Star Wars with cameos.

@nelsonsa the actor, however, has stunningly redeemed himself!

@hacks4pancakes his work with Robot Chicken was pretty damn good. And the hatred he got over the years was absolutely unwarranted.

My vitriol is purely aimed at George Lucas.

@nelsonsa @hacks4pancakes okay, yes, but also a couple of episodes ago on Mandalorian.
@hacks4pancakes That was such a fun episode, and her scenes with Grogu were the best part.
@dmnelson they were gloriously over the top, but Star Wars is full of over the top, and it’s great!
@hacks4pancakes Oh my goodness, she was?!!! Guess I missed the racism too, and now I just have something cool to look forward to.
@hacks4pancakes I don't miss twitter at ALL! Mastodon is so much better for my brain 🧠💗
@hacks4pancakes honestly Jack Black was way more of a stunt-cast than Lizzo.
@hacks4pancakes what’s sad for me is that as soon as I saw her, my first thought was ‘whelp this will be a whole racist thing.’
@hacks4pancakes I don't watch the show so I didn't know this was a thing but look how happy these two absolute dorks look! God, she's so gorgeous. Him too.
@robotfactory I mean nothing makes me happier than seeing true fans get to be in a show
@hacks4pancakes I don't care what anybody says, that whole episode was just fun. I knew people were grumpy about it, but I'm glad I missed the racist garbage.
@hacks4pancakes Lizzo showing up there is probably the thing that will nudge me to go start watching this season.

@hacks4pancakes most of my friends know I’m a huge Star Wars fan so one shared feedback an acquaintance posted about the episode, and asked if I’ve seen the episode-was it really that bad?

It wasn’t even close and yeah, the racial undercurrent of the original criticism was pretty apparent. Reminded me of the whole “Can’t have a Black stormtrooper” shit-take.

I thought Lizzo did just fine with and I *absolutely* loved her interactions with Grogu.

@hacks4pancakes I loved the episode and her acting/casting was perfect for her, i like Jack Black's acting too but he probably could have been better off as a bad guy.
@hacks4pancakes Wait is that who she was? My face blindness strikes again.

@hacks4pancakes

I remember when there was a big stink because of some flute. From the noise, I thought she had dropped or broken in, but no ... she played it. Because, they ... asked her to.

I mean, that told me all I needed to know about that crap.
Haven't seen it yet (I'm behind in my Star Wars related stuff), but this makes me want to! 😀
