It’s time to end the five-day isolation guidance for covid https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/04/12/covid-cdc-five-day-isolation-guidance/
@jeffjarvis "We believe it’s time for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to retire that policy and move to an alternative guidance: Stay home when sick; return to work and school when you are better."
Stay home once you've been contagious for at least three days and have probably infected one or two other people already and don't come back until you're only likely to infect another three or four.
My condolences.
RN x45 years, over age 60 here. 2000 Americans still die each week from covid. Most are age 60 and older. These crass out of touch knuckleheads apparently could care less about seniors!
Truth!
@scottfweintraub @Jedigal007 @jeffjarvis
The other part is that, by encouraging policies that will cause those 60 and older to die, the government is not going to be paying out as much in Social Security benefits and Medicare over the long term.
To quote Texas Ranger Earl McGraw from the movie Kill Bill:
@jeffjarvis So sorry to hear, Jeff. May you and your family be comforted by all the memories you all shared. You are entirely correct: #COVID19 is not over.

@jeffjarvis I’m so sorry for your loss.
5 days is not even a reasonable minimum. I read that opinion waiting for the author to point out the obvious, which is that we have lots of science on Covid-19’s contagiousness, and it all points to 10 days plus 1-2 negative tests. What a disappointment that that person thinks a stealthy, hypercontagious disease’s risk level *to others* can be subjectively decided by everyone according to how they feel.
