@wainjoe
It's a tough battle that you always try to win, but it's unseen to other people.
Be kind. Always.
@wainjoe also, saying “oh what have you got the be sad about” or “just cheer up” doesn’t help at all.
Depression is so misunderstood, even though it is one of the most common and well studied mental health issue.

We're perhaps the best method actors ever.
"Imagine what it's like to appear happy and try to create that illusion."
On stage too much is exhausting, a negative feedback loop.
Ironically, for some of us (me for instance) it's a kindness we're trying to do. Don't leak unhappiness into other lives. Ugh.
Thank you! 💟
Bingo!
Yes. And it's heart-rending when the veneer shatters & the authentic truth becomes visible.
I hope you don't mind me taking a little tangent. I saw your post the same day a broke & disabled friend with pressing MD issues posted a brief video about a fundraising raffle. Broke my heart.
I'm new to Mastodon & not sure how to promote #mutualaid #GoFundMe etc. Please forgive me if I've overstepped. Many thanks.

@wainjoe there’s always a point in my therapy sessions when I feel I’m faking it, because my life as is shouldn’t see me this depressed. But that’s all part of the same feelings of inadequacy and dishonesty that drove me to therapy I suppose. Pretty bad that my ongoing belief I am wasting everyone’s time extends even to my therapist, eh….
So yeah, even those with depression can feel we are faking it, so everyone please don’t reinforce such thoughts by accusing someone of that.
