Some people believe it was because Nick Fuentes returned to Twitter.
Others believe it was because of @ivory and @[email protected] being released.

Chris R@atomicpoet ivory was what got me over. I had dabbled before but didnt dive in too deep. Have always loved tweetbot and the work @tapbots have done so was excited to try it out/support them. Haven’t been disappointed so far!

Bud Gibson@atomicpoet @ivory @icecubesapp @Sarahp once it became clear where Elon was headed with Twitter, I decided to jump ship. It was really the toxic nature of the environment. Good clients help, but the official app was adequate in late 2022. No client fixes a toxic environment.

@APeahen Both @ivory and @[email protected] are third party apps you can use with Mastodon.
Kind of like how you once could use Tweetbots and Twitterific with Twitter.
@APeahen They used to be able to let you use Twitter through an alternative client.
Just like @ivory and @[email protected] let you use Mastodon through an alternative client.

It was a bit of both for me. I removed the Twitter app from my phones home screen. Trying to ween myself off of that dumpster fire.
Invarian@atomicpoet @ivory @icecubesapp I can't say I regret joining up to now! Especially since Ivory joined the suite of apps I feel very comfortable using this platform.
Also it's openness to external applications by design is just great 💪

~hicksca@atomicpoet for me definitely usage went up with @ivory UX is way less annoying then some of the other apps that were out. Very much so a drop in Twitter replacement of you don’t use Spaces.

Tricot Feelya@gwilymgj @atomicpoet the only problem I have had this far is getting the notifications the way they’re supposed to be delivered. In other apps my notifications come to me where they are in the timeline, instead I’m getting clumps of one profile followed by clumps and/or strands of others, but nothing consistently. I may just have to play with settings to see what works well. I don’t want to get 30 posts from the same person in a row.Everything else works great!
