Something I love about Oslo: This city is incredibly quiet.
Lots of people are walking/biking/scooting. And most vehicles are electric, while speed limits are typically 30 km/hr (19 mph), so engine/tire noise is negligible.
A reminder that cities aren't loud; *cars* are loud.
In today's Under the Radar @marcoarment and I talk through what I think of as “Backpack-Driven Development". Where I start out a new development cycle by intentionally wandering around the design space of my ideas without the intention of making tangible progress. Instead my goal is to gather up as many small learnings and discoveries as I can into my metaphorical development backpack, which I then can use when it is time to actually do the work.
I was zooming in on my #visionOS view to check something and as I got close I was struck but how beautiful the ‘inset' effect on segmented controls is. I’ve faked inset depth for years on iOS with drop shadows and highlight colors...but this is ACTUALLY inset into the window.
Also, I'm not sure I realized that ornaments are actually offset towards the user slightly from the main window which gives it a very subtle bit of texture too.
Just accidentally discovered that Discord supports sed (and vim and everything else) search and replace!?! (I'm sure this is documented somewhere but I just had no idea).
So you post a comment with a sed-style `s/search/replace` and it edits the previous comment.
