@SpockResists Everyone is the protagonist of their own story, hidden from your view. A moment of patience, instead of impatience; a moment of compassion instead of irritation; a simple gesture.
Can save a life.
You might never know the impact your smile has had, or how holding that door was an unexpected joy for someone who is unfamiliar with being shown respect.
Genuine surprise at any consideration hurts my soul. It's too often along racial lines; often enough I couldn't help but notice.
It never hurts to be kind. It never costs anything, either.
Absent-mindedly, I cut someone off. The other driver got angry, honked, sped up and pulled right beside me at the next light.
I turned my tear streaked face toward her and said back, “I’m sorry. I hope you never have to go through what I’m going through.”
My husband had died, and I was on my way to the funeral home.
That was over 20 years ago. I don’t know whether she still remembers, but it shaped me. #BeKind
@SpockResists Thank you, for your compassion🙏🏼We belong to each other & feel better when remember this & treat fellow members of our human family, kindly.
Stay blessed 😇
#grateful
@SpockResists don’t forget doing this.
@SpockResists
Kindness is a wonderful, pulchritudinous thing.
It oftentimes takes a bit to muster up, but the feelings are innumerable when performed.
Reminds me of a story…
The 1st time I was able to teach my step-father.
To be clear:
He was a great guy to me and my mom. But he was flawed & a product of his generation & Geo.
He & my mom had just helped my new bride & I move. We were beat tired.
Hungry. KFC drive thru. I placed our order. He said with some distain “why you being so nice to HER?”
I said “she’s at work on a Sat nite. Why does she need me giving her 💩? Courtesy cost me nothing & we may get what we ordered”
@SpockResists
I'm spending retirement as a full-time carer. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease, cruel to the sufferer and those who love and care for them. It's tough.
Then someone smiles, is courteous, or is just unexpectedly nice to me or my wife. ♥️ Social lubrication. It definitely helps.
Our paths are unlikely to cross in real life, Mr Spock, as I'm downunder. Nonetheless, I thank you for your work.

@SpockResists As a busdriver I'd like to add :
I will still keep welcoming my quests with a smile and a 'goodmorning/afternoon/evening', even if half doesn't even look at me or acknowledges me, let alone say anything back.
@SpockResists every day I try to remind myself of this.
And this reminds me of This Is Water by David Foster Wallace. I read it every few years to reset the way I put my lens on the world (or strive to).
Thanks for posting this.
