They're not just saying the quiet part out loud. They're screaming it into a megaphone.
@MeidasTouch So it seems that hedge funds own like 38% of the housing marketing or something in Phoenix. That is some sad shit especially from a non-white person.
@sri @MeidasTouch is there a link to this factoid?
@paninid @MeidasTouch I read it in an article about 2 weeks ago ..
@paninid @MeidasTouch
https://www.corvallisadvocate.com/2022/merkley-bill-would-ban-hedge-fund-ownership-of-housing/
But googling hedge funds and housing will give you a lot of hits. Sen. Merkeley (my senator!) has a bill to ban hedge funds from owning real estate.
Merkley Bill Would Ban Hedge Fund Ownership of Housing  - The Corvallis Advocate

Think Dangerously

The Corvallis Advocate
@MeidasTouch people forget the founding fathers thought y'all too poor to vote
@MeidasTouch White land owners which was a small number of people, no blacks, and definitely no women.
@MeidasTouch Might as well. At this point they've calculated that they don't have anything to lose. Now they're just trying to get a headcount.
@MeidasTouch In fairness, this is a rare case where Ian Miles Cheong has his facts straight. I mean, usually it's used as an example for why we *shouldn't* blindly follow the Founding Fathers, but still.
@joekatz45 @MeidasTouch "Facts" are only half the battle; interpretation is as important, if not moreso. "A glove was found at Rockingham." That's a fact, terrific. Prosecutor said "see, he did it." Defence said "if the glove don't fit, you must acquit." And the world remains divided over which interpretation is closer to truth.
@MeidasTouch
Wow... To their credit this has been the fight all throughout US history regarding who gets a say in a constitutional republic. The first 'compromise' those founders made was to give land to white men. Today, we're still fighting the civil war. Is Heather Cox Richardson on Mastadon yet?
@MeidasTouch Yup. If it was up to the ‘founding fathers’ ian prob wouldn’t be allowed to own land to begin with
@kalanchito @MeidasTouch He isn't an American in the first place. He just loves to stir the pot
@kalanchito @MeidasTouch You think so? I doubt it. Take a good look at him🧐🤔
@MariNYC @MeidasTouch that ian guy def would not have a seat at the ‘founding fathers’ table. He’s from Malaysia 😹
@MeidasTouch Gee, a POLL TAX. What a novel idea!
@MeidasTouch There are no quiet parts anymore. They’ve been shouting the things formerly known as “the quiet part” for several years now.

@MeidasTouch

The reactionary right wants to return to 18th century voting rights, when only white male landowners could vote.

But suuurrre... the left that wants to protect everyone's voting rights is 'radical'.

#RadicalReactionaryRight

@MeidasTouch I have been too stunned by comments like this guy’s that I can’t respond coherently. There was a time not long ago when anyone of color and women of any shade could not own property in the US. The insinuation is clear. What is not clear how this standard can apply as fewer and fewer will be able to own property when the population of the world continues to increase and habitable land becomes scarcer. The intersection will be violent.
.@MeidasTouch And this is why EVERYONE should get the hell off Twitter and go elsewhere(like here). It only has power if people keep treating it as a town square. If everyone leaves but the Nazis and Elonlickers, it has no power over speech at all.
@MeidasTouch These two guys, one Chinese the other South African were discussing American life one day... 🙄
@MeidasTouch
Free speech for me & mine.
Those who vote the way I want will be allowed to vote.
#GOP #elonmusk

@MeidasTouch

That mf'er doesn't even live in the US. He's not a US citizen. Why does anyone give this guy's opinion oxygen? He's really terrible.

@MeidasTouch Good thing it's a disgusting Twitter thing that their overlord can grant them. Out here in the real world, we're currently safe of such tyranny. For now 🙏🏾
@MeidasTouch The elections are also very exclusive on MySpace.
@MeidasTouch they’re making this tweet into a reality

@MeidasTouch
We were taught in grade school (I'm 60 in Feb) that is why we have an electoral college; to prevent mob rule. We weren't taught the vote was intended only for land owners, but that's how it was in ancient Greece, and how it was in the early days of the United States. A broad right to vote in the US was only obtained in the mid 20th century by protest and lobbying.

The founding fathers demonstrated a malleability in their thinking in how they arranged for the Constitution to be amended. This is proof that we should reinterpret the Constitution for our times, no matter who might be promoting a policy of 'Constitutional Originalism'.

In any such discussion as this, there are two very important matters that must be recalled:
1. The Constitution was never intended as a protection from private citizens. It was intended always as a protection from over-reach of the federal government.
2. The Bill of Rights is special. They are fundamental, and untouchable (see the first point, repeat as necessary).

@MeidasTouch Musk went from fraud to cancer. He must leave.
Hey @MeidasTouch, how does this site work? Been here five days and had no interaction. Help!
@MeidasTouch it’s amazing how many Ian Cheongs don’t realize they would not be included in that group if we wanted to go back to restricting rights based on family ties and birth rights.
@MeidasTouch Elon’s completely eliminated those without the financial means to give the wannabe dictator $8/month. Elon must think you don’t count, if you can’t pay. Every non-verified subscriber should leave. It’s that simple.

@MeidasTouch

You will pay your $8 if you want to vote in polls. (Not a poll tax, but as close as Twitter could get.)

Blue checks, blue bloods, same difference.

@MeidasTouch Yeah, the Nazi site is run by fascists.

That's why I don't use the Nazi site anymore.

@MeidasTouch "Democracy must not become a tyranny of the mob" said the J6 supporter and well known mob inciter.
@MeidasTouch Wow. Just wow. I have honestly, and clearly naively, believed my entire life that ideas like this were obsolete, that we’d evolved past this. I hear today’s ultra-right rhetoric replicate the same theories & insults of decades, even centuries past — upending, reworking my understanding of the world. The assault on education in the US began with Reagan, and appears to be increasingly successful.
@MeidasTouch If it's not "the tyranny of the mob" it's not actually democracy.

@MeidasTouch Ankh Morpork was a democracy with one man, one vote.

That one man was the current ruler of the city. – Terry Pratchett.

@MeidasTouch Ian Miles Cheong thinks that if he licks boots hard enough, the nazis will make him an honorary aryan. That aint how it works, Ian.
@MeidasTouch The opinion by the second person is bad then you remember he isn't even American and it becomes infinitely worse.
@MeidasTouch It will be crazy the day Ian Miles Cheong (or ant man as he is known) actually visits the US for the first time...

@MeidasTouch

Crazy that a “resident of Malaysia who has amassed his social media following by playing a neo-conservative American provocateur” loves to espouse the ideals of the Founding Fathers.

How a right-wing troll turned my tweet into fake news

What began as an innocuous five second clip of a protest turned into an alt-right call to arms, and thousands of notifications in my inbox.

CITY News
@MeidasTouch typical republicanism. Don't like the result of a referendum so they must limit who can vote.
@MeidasTouch
And the Founding Fathers owned slaves and raped very young females, you despicable wastes of space (reference to m.elon and the other guy - NOT MeidasTouch!)
@MeidasTouch some would like to drag us back to the time of the 'Founding Fathers' when few other than white males had the right to vote. #VoterSuppression #Democracy #FreeSpeech #MrSink
@MeidasTouch Their worship of old British slavers is downright weird. Maybe not everything these "founding fathers" thought of was a smart idea in the modern world?
@MeidasTouch just a reminder that Ian Miles Cheong is a Malaysian that lives in Malaysia. I wonder where his funding come from
@MeidasTouch that was the final straw for me. I had been staying on Twitter just to watch it burn. Not anymore. It's sunk below any range of morality I have.

@MeidasTouch Amazing how they are never the mob that shouldn't be able to vote... how interesting 🤔

But yeah... that's horrible and beyond sucks.

@MeidasTouch Are women landowers allowed to vote?
How did that work? Like, if done today, would Invitation Homes (for example) get 80,000 votes for the single-family homes they own or just 1? @MeidasTouch
