Scientific American was bought by some corporate company and they have fired everyone in a union but also they are squashing any reporting that focuses on politics around science because they want to avoid trouble from Trump.

Science has always been our superpower. It's deeply unfortunate that we have reached this stage. Coupled the SCOTUS judgements we are turning into the worst versions of ourselves.

Goodbye, Scientific American! - Lawyers, Guns & Money

Scientific American has been acquired by LabX Media Group, which holds Discover Magazine, IFLScience, and a number of other science publications. I haven’t looked at IFLScience since it was a Twitter account stealing other people’s material. They say it’s different now. And they have started out by firing writers and editors. The Writers Guild of […]

Good morning!
#CatsOfMastodon #Cats

Apparently, bluesky is all a flutter because @Popehat bsky account was suspended. He made some edgy comment about Elon Musk on June 12th and took the moderators this long to take action.

I suspect that this is all to be demonstrative that everyone has to abide by the rules.

Sooo.. we've landed experimental DLSS support in #NVK that uses pre compiled shader binaries that are part of the runtime. However, if the application/DLSS library doesn't contain the GPU binary for the used GPU, it won't work.

However, those ship with PTX and we'd need a PTX to Nir/SPIR-V compiler inside mesa to support that.

However.. Nvidia might get angy and before I consider working on it (or somebody else), it might be better to have somebody covering potential legal fees, lol...

@EUCommission It's kind of crazy that Mastodon never got this kind of promotion and endorsement, unlike this 4 month old platform that came out of nowhere.
I've been sharing this thing with my wife. We are going when they get here - sharing a Rush concert is a dream come true. She loves the lyrics, but she's been really impressed with how we rejected misogyny and just embraced this woman.

While there has been so many depressing timelines, the one timeline that is just radiating love and gratitude is #Rush starting their tour.

Watching the videos, sharing comments -and the emergence of Anika Niles as the 3rd member of Rush. The sheer joy of all of us seeing this incredible woman. Especially having to manage the crushing expectation of following up Neil Peart.

But us Rush fans, we wanted her to succeed. Never been so proud to be part of being part of this fan base. Go RUSH!

For those interested, I wrote a blog post on #LAS2026 social media outcomes.

Linux App Summit 2026 Social Media Retrospective

Linux App Summit 2026 Social Media Retrospective This is my personal retrospective post - there will likely be some version of this that will go out to various stakeholders. I want to start off by giving huge praise to our organizing team that worked really hard this year in putting this event together. Couldn't ask...

A while back, there was a business insider article about me - located here - https://www.businessinsider.com/intel-layoff-job-search-challenges-tech-interviews-software-engineer-2025-11.

I didn't really post about it. Although some reached out. But I did find myself reading comments on Facebook and others. Reading humanities responses to my plight was interesting. Some racist responses, some mocking my glasses, some saying I should start from the bottom again.

Some people had some very strange takes about my situation.

I was laid off by Intel — twice. I knew the job market would be challenging, but I still can't find a job after 4 months.

On Sriram Ramkrishna's last day at Intel after being laid off, his wife lost her job, too. Four months later, he's still looking for work.

I've been craving making mexican food - Jalisco or some other style. The problem I feel is that I want it to pop and for that i need to make all the salsas.

A lot of the taquerias here have all these salsas you eat with a burrito, it's hard to eat it without it!

What kind of recipes do you all have for the various salsas out there??
