@KimCrayton1 came here to correct you on that.
Even though he is not in the government, this is a pretty serious guy 🙊 Way scarier curriculum than the actual digital minister tbh 👮 🚨
@KimCrayton1 "gendarmerie in cyberspace" is my new band* name.
*"band" may be a group of heavily cyber-armed hacktivists
@KimCrayton1 He’s free to control what is published on the site. And with control comes responsibility. Hello consequences, goodbye section 230 protections
Bravo, Elon, bravo
“Any attempt to remove my tweets that link to my other social media accounts, not violating any law, would actually make #twitter an editorial media, and no longer a social media platform, with civil and criminal liability for *any* illegal content therein. https://t.co/kwoFHVue43”
I think Elonovich Muskyovski is finding out that this social media lark is not for him....
#elonmusk
@KimCrayton1 as I keep saying to Americans who state "Musk can do it, it's all legal":
Not in the EU child, not in the EU
@deadbat I think from a legal perspective, there's a difference in suppressing a post versus deleting it outright/suspending a person for posting it.
Basically it comes down to "you (the user) have the right to say it, but we (the platform) don't have to show it to anyone." vs "you (the user) can't even say it on our platform, and if you do, we will kick you off the platform."
The first is LEGALLY ok, while the second is not.
Remember, the law is all about splitting hairs.
@deadbat And for the record I think it's TOTALLY BS that Facebook/IG suppresses and severely restricts views on outbound links in general. It's infuriating and I hate it.
@KimCrayton1 Maybe this will open the eyes of policymakers that any algorithmic timeline that filters your reality by a set of non-trivial* rules (and thus filters your reality and/or gaslights you, depending on how you want to see it) is editorial.
* So a timeline with posts from everyone you follow in chronological order doesn’t count even though you could technically argue that it’s an algorithm if you’re an absolute pedant about it :)
Correction: they are not the French digital minster...this is what I get for not looking him up myself..he "is a French National Gendarmerie officer , scientist and essayist. He specializes in the fight against cybercrime and is second in command of the gendarmerie in cyberspace." https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89ric_Freyssinet
Easy Emma has a habit of ignoring non-US law. He has already had problems, but it takes time to get through the processes. As actual CEO it will get personal.
@stanford
If you reach a dominant market share with your product, you're no longer free to do-as-you-wish. Anti-monopoly law kicks in. Please consult the apropriate laws for the details.
For international business this (most likeley) includes US and EU law. Maybe even more jurisdictions depending on your market share there.
As always with legalese: It's complicated. 😀
