every scroll helps Musk. It means ads are viewed and he can tell advertisers about higher engagement.
The "twitter files" are a joke. It's showing a process probably a thousand times more deliberate and concerned with "free speech" than the one Musk has used or has any plan to use.
#Twitter is a Private Organisation led by a Businessman. Everything else is noise. If you are expecting free speech it's like expecting free goods from Amazon #Mastodon #ElonMusk [ ] Yes, I Agree [ ] No, But...
@jhannaway @paulg He's not even smart at that, just a lucky sociopath whose luck has run out.
"One former senior employee told me that the culture shift when Musk took over at Tesla was like when Voldemort's Death Eaters took over the halls of Hogwarts."
@DmytroGladkyi I still use web client, but pinafore is not a whole lot better, it's just simpler looking.
I did have the intention to try this: https://github.com/NicolasConstant/sengi it looks much nicer.
@jonmasters @paulg @Migueldeicaza
i don't disrespect people who make bad judgments, we all do
i greatly respect people who publicly admit when they get it wrong, and describe how actual events changed what they believe
pg hasn't done that yet, so thanks are premature
pg will almost certainly get reinstated because he's prominent, rich, and a big supporter
let's watch what pg does when he's reinstated while others who are less prominent, less rich, and more critical remain banned
#freespeech yeah right
@ares @jonmasters @paulg @Migueldeicaza
This is the thing, it's the same 'he's just a bit eccentric' take you get from a lot of people, many who, like PG, should know better, which are actually quite harmful as they downplay the reality.
If you research his background you find that his alleged 'smartness' is not true at all.
I understand ordinary people getting this wrong, but for PG it's indefensible. They are the ones keeping the Musk myth going.
The premise behind the Common Sense Skeptic is simple - provide viewers with the ability to break down outrageous claims using simple mathematics, examples, and logic. Wherever possible, and especially with regards to scientific breakthroughs, this channel will make seemingly complicated subject matter easier to understand. @ares @jonmasters @paulg @Migueldeicaza
Again, I firmly believe (and no offence PG, this is not an attack) that PG is a guy who has 50% highly insightful takes and 50% utterly wrong ones. It's an odd mix. This is firmly in category #2.
@ljs @jonmasters @paulg @Migueldeicaza
pg excuses his anti- #freespeech actions as a simple misunderstanding of social media
meanwhile the guy has been a genius in directing the spotlight on himself every hour of every day with social media, so he obviously he knows better than most how it works
this is willful blindness from pg because truly reckoning with what is actually happening would put much of pg's own positions in a very unflattering light
@ares @jonmasters @paulg @Migueldeicaza
I'm not sure I'd go that far. I mean I am not sure what positions you are referring to, I just think PG is wrong on the Musk thing, and I wish more tech leaders would be a little more careful promoting guys like Musk.
@paulg One of the first things to learn is that you can edit toots 😺
The key thing is to preserve your right to choice i.e., #Twitter is just one of many #socialmedia spaces on the #Web where your activity levels and interests may vary 😀
Anyway, great seeing you over here, since most innovators are deemphasizing Twitter as their prime point of social-media presence.
