Here's a list of journalists on mastodon since it can be difficult to sort through who is the right person yet since people haven't been verified yet in some cases. Hopefully it can help you connect with who you might want to connect with
@seekingsrishti Welcome to the fediverse, and sorry you're such in this situation.
Given EVERYTHING going on with journalistic freedom in India + uptick in authoritarian power flexes, your predicament seems to be a cousin to twitter removing Ukraine as a country in their signup.
They seem to be deploying the gaslighting cycle (abuse-forgive-blame-apology) to cow folks into appeasing & eventually supporting them.
But: you have a place here!
Welcome!!

@seekingsrishti Hello and Welcome!
Glad you've here!
Allow me to present you with this bouquet of foxes as a mastodon-warming gift:

@seekingsrishti
Follow lots of folks.
I see you're a journalist, so you should check out those on newsie and other journalism news focused instances (serverers). Don't worry about the server you joined, you can follow folks from any instance. It just takes some getting used to.
@seekingsrishti welcome, use hashtags a lot and note that you can follow hashtags too.
Also, you'll need to post your proof-of-cat image soon to secure full operational privileges. (Mastodon likes cats).
@seekingsrishti Hello and Welcome!! I’m sorry to read about your experience getting locked out on Twitter - I understand how important that app is for journalists.
You’re here now; you have the ability to start clean, start fresh, and take the lessons from there and maybe see how you can apply them here. What I’m trying to say is that I sense the loss and urgency in your post, and I share in your grief, I understand. I don’t know that particular type of loss, but I know loss well enough and can commiserate.
I think you will find your experience here much more enjoyable - the lack of an algorithm is actually a good thing: you are responsible for driving your own viewership through engagement : the more you engage, the better your experience here will be.
The fediverse is an absolutely amazing collection of servers hosting some very smart and talented people - I am aware that trolling can occur anywhere with social media, but I’ve been here since the end of October and haven’t seen a troll yet: everything seems to be very well moderated and the folks here seem very genuine.
In case no one has made the recommendations yet, @feditips and @donmelton are two solid choices to follow, as their posts can bring you up to speed pretty quick and help expose you through “boosts” to people you may find commonality with.
