I'm not mad about the fact that Elon decided to shut down 3rd party apps. That was on the back of our minds for years and we knew it was inevitable when he took control.

It's that he did it with no warning or grace period to prepare our customers. We are grateful for those who are understanding and offer full support. But for every one of you, there are 2-3 more customers who want their money back. It's just a complete disaster. Many who had a sub for 7-10 months want prorated money back.

A startup has gone full rogue, dumping sulfur dioxide into our shared atmosphere as a geoengineering proof of concept - without any consultation or oversight.

"Make Sunsets, appears to have moved forward with launches from a site in Mexico without any public engagement or scientific scrutiny. It’s already attempting to sell “cooling credits” for future balloon flights that could carry larger payloads."

Make Sunsets CEO refers to it as "geoengineering activism"

The success of Mastodon and the Fediverse is not the success of a new platform. It’s a potentially groundbreaking change for the internet. No traditional social media platform will be able to compete with this anymore once the network effects kick in here. And it’s looking very good at the moment.

Sometimes your daily writing session is just deleting a lot of what you wrote the day before.

I realised a while back that a step back can be a step forward.

Also, one of the best fiction writing tips I was ever given was that you should remember that most characters will have both proximate and ultimate goals, simultaneously.

Ask yourself both "what are they trying to achieve this chapter?" and "what are they trying to achieve in the end?" if you need to refocus.

As Twitter kicked me out of the so-called digital town square, I'm trying to embrace the open source Mastodon with high hopes.
Please say hello and help me to navigate through this new app.
