Mitch Surprenant@snazzyq Your post is what pushed me here after lots of waffling. Specifically the part about it reminding you of “old Twitter”. I remember those days. It felt like anything was possible. That’s just not where Twitter is anymore.
But I’d really like to hope this entire project isn’t just a Twitter complaint compilation. That would get really old really fast. I don’t mind, like, news about goings on there coming here. But “old Twitter” was very much a conversation. I want that back.
@Mitchsurp There’s certainly some twitter complaining but it already seems on the decline which is good.
june@snazzyq your tweet finally pushed me over the edge to try out Mastodon. I've been considering deleting Twitter for a week or so after Elon started making clear that he's transphobic and so having another place to go to will be great if I end up doing so.

I am leaving Twitter because I don’t like the messages Elon is choosing to amplify, and I assume he will keep censoring anyone who is critical of him, his buddies, and his authoritarian government patrons…but all the points you raise ring true to me as well.

@diecelz Advantage to a federation, theoretically. You can start your own instance and be your own mod. May do that eventually. Official app is a mess. Ivory alpha is excellent but not publicly available. Try Toot! if you haven’t. Or Metatext. They’re decent.

@snazzyq I'm also trying to switch to mastodon, oddly enough for pretty much the same reason. Difference being that I think Elon will indeed ruin Twitter, at least for people who are not into the orange guy
