Well reply here and I will follow you back. And please people, follow them. I’m struggling with follow backs for sure. But you can see I’m getting there steadily.
Reply here. Boost them. #followback

@SpockResists Good initiative, Spock! I'm glad you did that.
For those interested in finding their old friends, you could take a look at https://www.movetodon.org/ which is a website that finds the Mastodon username for folks you followed on Twitter.
It got me 90 or so of my friends back!!

It got me almost 700 or so of my friends back!!
This is great!
Somebody wrote, even if you have not many followers,
40 000 people see your toots. Is that true and why? 🤔
Use hashtags guys. Use hashtags. Use hashtags. Use hashtags. That is the only way people who arent following you can see your stuff.
Also follow hashtags you like so you get more content in your home feed.
In apps like Tusky or the browser ver, just click on in a tag in a post or search for one. Then click the little dude in the right corner.
Any posts with that tag will get added to your feed. Not supported in the main app yet. But the timeline updates still show up. Its coming.

I find if you follow hashtags, your timeline gets very cluttered with stuff you don't always want to see. For example, I'm interested in climate change info, but it can be sometimes pretty dry and technical, so rather than follow it, I have a shortcut to it on my desktop. That way, I can check what's happening there when I want to without it cluttering up my timeline.
A shortcut to a hashtag looks like this:
https://mastodon.au/tags/climate
Just replace your own server in the URL and whatever hashtag you have an interest in.
@Hoffmann Profile hashtags are really just for profile page searches.
Like comedy pages could add #comedy as a label I guess Idk and people who search comedy profiles would see it as a result. I wouldnt worry about it unless you are trying to set up a big topic specific page
A news page would add #news. #Gaming could add gaming. Not meant for regular users. More topic pages and fan pages.
@SpockResists
I've been following & boosting lots of accounts since I came over. The vast majority #FollowBack
My feed is so much more diverse here.
I think we've been slaves of #algorithm driven feeds for so long, it takes time to get used to an #AlgrithFree experience. But I'm loving it!
