I did a thing. As many know, I’m a CFI-I chasing the career 2.0 dream of flying professionally. Last week I interviewed with a regional airline for FO position in their cadet program. I was accepted! What does that mean? It means when I finish up my hours, ~700 left 😬, I will be given a class date and learn to fly jets! Very cool peace of mind as I chase my ATP minimums!

my-store-107f11eI've started the onboarding process with my flight club for my part time CFI gig. Mostly meetings with the Chief flight instructor going over the CFI handbook and talking through philosophies. I just have to complete a quick flight with the Chief and I'll be assigned my first student. Pretty exciting! He also said I could ramp up to full time, if I want, pretty quickly which will be super helpful if my FT job goes away. I heard layoffs were coming at my job so that's a bummer.
Good news! My local flight club, that I have been with for years, has agreed to take me on as a part time CFI! It's a great environment for flexibility and pretty relieved since the options around me are limited... especially for part time. It also allows me to transition to full time if I would like since there is a healthy backlog of students. Week or so of some onboarding and I should get my first victim, err student. ;)
I think it's time to find a new job. My current tech job has burned me out. I think i'm going to look for something aviation related (Software or other) or lean into full time CFI for a while. It's a massive drop in pay however but man... I need a change of some sort. If anyone has ideas on aviation related careers for a 15 year Software developer/manager with a CFI, hit me up.
#unicornjobIt's been a minute since I've posted. I know that I said I would post content through my CFI training but failed to do that. I really just got super busy and kept pushing it off. Then I got into hardcore study mode in the last couple of months. I am pleased to say that today, I am now a newly minted CFI. I was well prepared by my instructor and though long, I was able to nail the 6 hour oral and 2 hour flight. Time to rest a bit!

#DisneyWorld #Disney #UniversalOrlando #OrlandoIPC and Club annual complete. Haven't flown and approach in 9 months since i've been working on my CFI. 3 approaches in the books and I killed them if I do say so myself. Check pilot complimented me but was skeptical that I said I haven't flown one in so long. The log book don't lie... er usually. :)
