What are the biggest developments/trends/issues in your area of law right now?

I'll start. For #DesignPatents, I'd day:

1. The NDIL #ScheduleA debacle

2. The #Greciaverse

a) Related: All the ridiculous GUI DPs

b) Related: How the do we interpret broken line claims?

3. The USPTO gearing up to "interpret" the phrase "for an article of manufacture" out of 35 U.S.C. § 171.

4. The utter mess that is the Federal Circuit's body of case law on ornamentality

@design_law As you can see from my profile, my answer would definitely be the change in the way we regulate #AI - the government is currently carrying out a consulation on this, but more broadly speaking also the way we protect works created by #ArtificialIntelligence using #Copyright and #Patents (or even if we should protect them!)

#LawProfs #IP #LawFedi

@design_law agreed, but for me I'm also excited about non-governmental responses for responsible use of AI. @RuthFlaherty I'd be curious to get your take on a trust model we've been exploring at my lab. See https://spot.suffolklitlab.org/trusts/ Maybe this could be the start of that Suffolk Squared event. ;)
Building Trust(s)

@Colarusso @design_law I'll have a look and let you know. It looks really interesting - and would definitely make an interesting project for a joint event!

@RuthFlaherty @design_law thanks. The problem is I haven’t gotten around to writing anything formal yet. Too busy actually putting things out in the world. :/

Hopefully the brief description gives you an idea of what were shooting for.

@design_law I’ll have a go at #antitrust:
1. Dealing with #digital #ecosystems.
2. How to deal with #sustainability cooperation..
3. How to approach markets where #monopoly power (monopolistic or oligopolistic) is so established that there is no realistic possibility that the competitive process will provide self-correction. The UK Market Investigation Regime is interesting here (also introduced in Greece and currently discussed in Germany).
