@CrimethInc Please make sure people are aware that Telegram is not completely "safe".
Only after performing specific actions is it (probably) so.
Same as elsewhere, but it is just very much less clear there, in my opinion.

Well, as far as I understand, the only end-to-end encryption mode (claimed) of Telegram is "Secret Chats" (https://telegram.org/faq#secret-chats) which have to be specifically initiated and... I think don't exist in group-chats(?).

That is why I don't ever recommend people go there... just for the possible confusion.

while i appreciate research on this field, it's super dubious they rolled it out to a production system used by millions

@mayly I receive some news through Telegram, but I don't send on Telegram. quite like it was with me and telgrams (on actual paper) in the 80s. ;-D But yes, you are correct.

@CrimethInc This is the part about Musk buying Twitter that (unlike the business case) makes perfect sense.

He's just paying to win the argument/trolling contest.

He bought the website, and now he can ban the people who make fun of him, or who are disliked by the trolls, neofascists, white supremacists, and bootlickers that idolize him.

Like using a cheat code in a video game.

@CrimethInc I have not expected this as quite a lot of Twitter employees seemed to have returned. I cannot imagine him having sorted out thinking people among them this fast.

Such behaviour (if confirmed) has serious implications. It may be done in a concealed manner in the future should this get bad press. In the end one always needs to look out for openness.

I have moved Twitter from neutral to potentially evil in my threat model. I wonder what the justice systems will do.

@CrimethInc | This is a bloody travesty. We've spent our lives punching Richard Spencer and those like him. To see them crawling back up is disgusting.

Y'all did nothing wrong, especially nothing wrong on Twitter. Helping out the people to be protected and safe with your guides was valuable and important work.

Our account (and other anarchist voices) will likely get in their crosshairs soon. You're right it's time to decrease Twitter and explore other organizing avenues

@CrimethInc Right wingers think "being silenced" means you go on a huge media campaign across all the biggest networks to complain about not being able to talk, so they literally don't hear shit from us when the Left is kicked off platforms and removed from the conversation because we're actually being silenced by the guy who's supposed to be the free speech guy. But they never gave a shit about their "principles" in the first place.
