Radon Journal is alive and well, but we are mothballing our Mastodon account.

We're still working hard to bring you the best anarcho-sci-fi three times a year (Feb 1, June 1, Oct 1). We're in print and for free online. And if you're in England or Wales, you will find us at most anarchist bookfairs.

But we've made this decision for a few reasons:

1) Mastodon did not take off in the publishing realm in the manner we thought it would a few years ago

2) Our efforts were spread too thin across too many social media platforms. We couldn't keep up and suffered from anxiety-burnout.

3) Only one Radon editor understood how to use Mastodon

4) Using this account to post longer-winded anti-government mini-essays did not seem feasible when we're putting most of our energy into not being kidnapped by the secret police.

We won't delete the account, and there may be a day when we need to come back more often.

But for now, we leave you with the print artwork for our latest issue, and hope to see you on Bluesky or on our site at RadonJournal.com.

Radon Journal Issue 10 launches worldwide June 1

How long until anarchists start getting kidnapped off the streets in the US?

We first theorized 2-3 years but it's been three months and it's already happening to brown citizens and scientists who post critical language of the regime. So at this rate likely 6 months or 8 on the long end.

All they have to do is say, like governments have always done, that "anarchists are terrorists" and then we're shipped off to death camps.

These the next few months will be critical to see if a broad resistance forms among the populace, if protests get a spark and start growing, or if we're all just fucked.

We haven't been as activeon Mastodon this year and we apologize. Rest assured we are as active as ever producing the journal, and most recently had Issue 9 launch.

We've just had a healthy dose of nihilistic despair and mental illness. And trying to spread ourselves slightly less thin on our many social platforms. Only one of our editors is familiar with Mastodon and has been busy trying to . . . how to say this with opsec—get shit done the epicenter of a crumbling empire (AKA DC).

So here are some journal highlights and then some anarchist thoughts

Anarchist thoughts:

- We'll be publishing scifi-anarchist work until we're forced to stop or put into concentration camps. We're openly anarchist by choice because fuck living in fear.

- The DC anarchist scene is basically dead and hasn't been revived since J20. We're a long way until a mass revolt gets underway in the US as everyone's hunkered down and there's no spark yet.

- Best use of time seems to be laying the foundations with the people you know, introducing anarchist and violent revolutionary ideas in their heads so that in the months to come when things pop off you have more allies to join you on the streets and know what level of direction action you can engage in.
