@mmasnick I've been using the smaller scale over here to post more frequently and smaller stuff than I'd put on the other site. Big stuff gets both, but the people over here get more.
It's kind of like going back in time to the other site in 2009 over here.
@NotMark80 i mean, my concern with them is that the sites are different, and just importing one to the other feels wrong.
Also, seems much more likely to not actually engage here.
.. doing something completely different, like discussing with brands on brands.town?
https://brands.town/directory
#fediverse
@mmasnick in my own specific case, the quality of engagement (defined as thoughtfulness, kindness and humane) is just much better here. even if the quantity is a lot less. while it's still an adjustment compared to the much more active twitter community, i find the vortex of "bad" feelings over there is too much.
ymmv as you likely derive more value and get far more quality of engagement compared to me.
p.s. been a long time follower and much less "engager." kudos to great work at techdirt
@mmasnick I post nice supportive things here, talk about #projects and share some of my #wildlifephotography
Slightly ashamed to admit that I mainly use the other place to post snarky comments while I watch everything burn
@mmasnick post short excerpts of pre-release writing for feedback
lazyweb editing
same here.
I m doing the experiment of
tooting what i really care about
vs
tweeting what i m supposed to care about
and so far, the experience is quite amazing.
I like that.
@mmasnick
but you know what, follow up thought:
on July 4th just past my band was to be the entertainment at the end of the parade route in Highland Park, IL. As I was looking for parking I got a text message from a band mate that just said “active shooter”.
The next thing I did after putting the car in park and looking around at the families running was fire up the Bird app to find out wtf was happening
