It's a breath of fresh air how Mastodonians know the difference between "you're" and "your."
@rmayemsinger It also helps that the platform has a free Edit button.
@raumdeuter @DamnCatOnMyDesk @rmayemsinger it is, but implementation is lacking. It's not really an edit function, more of a redo. The difference being if you have replies under your original toot they're removed from the "edited" version

@tmv33 @raumdeuter @rmayemsinger My server is running the Mastodon v4.0RC with the new "Edit" function that leaves "Delete & Redraft" in the dust. It actually keeps an edit history, keeps all replies/likes/boosts, and sends out an update notification to everyone affected.

Apologies for the confusion.

@DamnCatOnMyDesk @raumdeuter @rmayemsinger ah ok. So it's a server update thing. @ruud any word?
@tmv33 @DamnCatOnMyDesk @raumdeuter @rmayemsinger Final version of V4 is expected Monday. So then we'll upgrade somewhere next week.
@rmayemsinger although you know me with the typos!
@msignorile I will always assume a typo in your case. 😊
@rmayemsinger I'll hold off judgment (!) until we see how "lose" and "loose" are handled 😅 .
@neogodless @rmayemsinger
‘choose’ and ‘chose’ too!!😅

@lavndrblue @rmayemsinger I choose not to think about that one....

Did I use the right one???! How will they know?

@rmayemsinger
Your so right in you're post!

😜

@rmayemsinger it really is. So nice here.
@rmayemsinger I also haven't seen a "would/could/should of" yet, which makes me feel like I can finally breathe again.
@rmayemsinger My second most hated error. The egregious 'should have' (and other variations thereof) rather than 'should have' is still my most hated one.
@rmayemsinger Oops, my Mac or Mastodon autocorrected it. Should. Of. is the hated expression.
@rmayemsinger Right?! Social media users that are thoughtful AND literate? What is this magical place?
@ZomBunnyFrank @[email protected]
A collection of very privileged people who seem to take education for granted.
@rmayemsinger And I haven't seen a single instance of 'would of/should of/could of'

@rmayemsinger To be honest, I'm curious how the #TwitterMigration is going to change how we use shorthand. :)

I have 100,500 characters per publish. I don't NEED to say "tbh" because of a limit in characters.

I'm hopeful it will make engagements more meaningful and intentional. Less 'one to many' attempts at quickiest eyeballs.

@rmayemsinger As long as you carefully select follows and NEVER look through the replies. It's always in the replies.
@rmayemsinger
I don't understand you're comment... 😄
@rmayemsinger and I'm sure the differences between their, they're and there! (I'm the family grammar chief, but never correct someone online - it's hard, but I bite my tongue!😂 )

@rmayemsinger

It’s your* fault that you’re** eating too many pickles.
*| Belonging **| You are.

To* be the one that people think are too** stressed, could mean two*** things.
*| direct of motion **| more than enough ***| meaning the number two

They’re* going to their** grandma’s Bar Mitzfah, there*** will be a corgi!
*| They are **| belonging to ***| That place

@rmayemsinger It's the apostrophe, right? I'm smart.

@rmayemsinger same feeling you get from driving South to North.

Indicators... Everywere!

@rmayemsinger or they’re vs their vs there.
@rmayemsinger your enjoying of this benefits us all
@rmayemsinger And They're, there, and their.
@rmayemsinger Is that what we are, Mastadonians? I thought we were Mastadons.
@rmayemsinger not to mention extraneous apostrophe’s, unnecessary “quotation” marks, and the Oxford comma.

@rmayemsinger ... now let's see whether "lose" and "loose" are a challenge.

🤞🤞

@rmayemsinger Great to see you here! It will take time to build, but knowing there are solid controls in place is a relief. Have a peaceful Sunday.
@rmayemsinger spelling and grammar are 2 of my biggest pet peeves.
@rmayemsinger following you from twitter I am neutrino78x both places :)
@rmayemsinger Sadly, however, Mastodon itself does NOT know the difference. It will give you a red underline sometimes (same as BirdApp) even when you're using "you're" correctly.
@rmayemsinger @TattonTreks their really up on they’re grammar, that’s for sure.
@rmayemsinger this alone cements the switch
@Jake_Vig but I kinda prefer Post now. Will remain on both.
@Jake_Vig @rmayemsinger I feel like lots of people will change their minds when sponsored posts, in-app purchases and ads start.
