Hello #hcommons! A brief #introduction.

I'm Ariela, and I'm a graduate student at the Institute of Fine Art at New York University studying #medieval and #Renaissance #art history. Part of #medievodons, #bookhistodons, and #histodons. I'm currently working on the performative uses of crucifixes with moving limbs as props in Passion Plays in #Italy. I'm also interested in questions of premodern race (#RaceB4Race) and cultural difference with respect to these performances.

Mostly posting about medieval nonsense, art history, disability justice, and my dog (named #Dante). Occasionally posting my Halloween costumes.

@ArielaAlgaze I love basket 🤣 This is too great.
@ArielaAlgaze um beyond incredible ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have actually seen this one done as a Halloween costume before, University of Manchester grads Halloween party, 2019! Love it.
@ArielaAlgaze good morning Ariela.
Love the costume, love your pet name.
Looking forward to your toots.
@ArielaAlgaze I see your penis tree is fruiting particularly late this year. Climate change do you think?

This is the sort of obscure new to me knowledge that I love most in the world!
@ArielaAlgaze Ahh the nuns and the penis tree a classic 😝 great costume! A friend of mine did a charming embroidery of this or one similar after studying marginals at the British Library!
@ArielaAlgaze I must say, I love the nun picking penis’s from the tree! A basket full!
@ArielaAlgaze I’d love to know more about the artwork you were recreating. What’s it called? I need to look it up!
