I don't know how useful this will be, but I've compiled a quick start guide, with lots of screenshots, aimed at #humanities #academics who are #NewToMastodon, trying to cover some of the things I see people most frequently getting stuck on in some less technical language than existing documentation.

I've put it on #HumanitiesCommons open for edits and comments so that other folks can help fill out things like useful hashtags.

No, it couldn't. 🧵

Hello! I'm an art historian who researches the 15C coinage of England! These headlines are not only sensationalist; they also participate in a longstanding effort to date as early as possible Euro presence on & further legitimize claims to this continent. /1 https://twitter.com/ANACoins/status/1591236080984014850

Episode 1: Allie Alvis on Bindings, Tattoos, and Cute Little Guys | Inside My Favorite Manuscript

In today's episode we talk to Allie Alvis, cataloger and bookseller, as she shares with us two manuscripts she loves from the Hunterian Collection at the University of Glasgow: The Hunterian Psalter (MS Hunter 229), a gorgeous and exquisitely illustrated 12th century psalter, and John Lydgate's Life of Our Lady (MS Hunter 232), a 15th century collection of religious poetry, notable primarily because it's been drawn upon by children. Complete show notes are on our blog.

I love the manuscript studies class I'm taking because it makes me feel like I'm leveling up on the medievalist skills (paleography, codicology, and diplomatics, oh my!) I need in my main quest to become extremely overeducated and underemployed.

With everything that's happening here please don't forget that the INSIDE MY FAVORITE MANUSCRIPT PODCAST will launch on November 15, first episode with @[email protected]. Should be available wherever you get your podcasts! Main site on Tumblr:

Hello #hcommons! A brief #introduction.

I'm Ariela, and I'm a graduate student at the Institute of Fine Art at New York University studying #medieval and #Renaissance #art history. Part of #medievodons, #bookhistodons, and #histodons. I'm currently working on the performative uses of crucifixes with moving limbs as props in Passion Plays in #Italy. I'm also interested in questions of premodern race (#RaceB4Race) and cultural difference with respect to these performances.

Mostly posting about medieval nonsense, art history, disability justice, and my dog (named #Dante). Occasionally posting my Halloween costumes.
