The Sedition Act of 1918 was passed on this day by the U.S. Congress, making criticism of the government during wartime an imprisonable offense; it was repealed less than two years later https://toilet-guru.com/woodrow-wilson.html?s=mb #travel #WorldWarI #history
Woodrow Wilson's Toilets, Tubs, and Sinks

President Woodrow Wilson had a home in Washington, D.C. It was built when American plumbing was rapidly modernizing. All this and more on the Toilets of the World.

Toilets of the World
The US passed a #SeditionAct on #ThisDayInHistory in 1918, criminalizing criticism of the government, of conscription, and of #WorldWarI. It ended the illusion of #FreeSpeech here & almost a thousand #PoliticalPrisoners were gaoled for their beliefs. Stop pretending you are free.
The secret #SykesPicotAgreement was signed on #ThisDayInHistory in 1916 by the UK & France. In it, they laid out plans to dismember the #OttomanEmpire at the end of #WorldWarI. The lines they drew divided otherwise coherent nations and have acted to prevent stability ever since.
#SSVaterland, the second of three sisters from #HamburgAmericaLine, had her maiden voyage on #ThisDayInHistory in 1914. #WorldWarI changed her fate, and this proud #OceanLiner, the largest at her launching, lost money during #Prohibition for #UnitedStatesLines as #SSLeviathan.

This refers to unpaid arrears that the “King of Climbing” has not paid for his Cloud Museum, located on Mount Rite: €5,000 per year plus €100 per day in sanctions in case of non-payment. Messner, according to the municipality and as reported by Repubblica, hasn’t paid since 2014, and the museum should reopen soon, in June. Provided the dispute finds a solution. Everything is already in the hands of the climber’s lawyers.

The Messner Mountain Museum Dolomites, also known as the Cloud Museum, is located at the summit of Mount Rite and was inaugurated in 2002 at the initiative of Reinhold Messner.
