Press freedom: Journalists face rising risks

According to the UN education and culture organization, UNESCO, which monitors press freedom, 93 journalists were killed in 2025 alone – 60 of them in conflict zones. UN News spoke to Sylvie Coudray, Director of UNESCO’s Division for Freedom of Expression, Media Development, and Media and Information Literacy ahead of World Press Freedom Day.

Während bei der World Press Freedom Day Global Conference am 04. und 05. Mai in Lusaka, Sambia, über diese Themen gesprochen wird, spinne, stricke und häkle ich im Atelier Mitzi für die Pressefreiheit: Mit meiner Handspindel stelle ich aus alten Zeitungen Papiergarn her. Daraus entstehen gehäkelte Körbe und gestrickte Stücke.
