Cradle as a story will never be not relevant.
For the first time I am creating my own design. Provided Cradle by @willwight110 has its roots in Xianxia genre, both to represent the story and the character accurately, I had to delve headfirst into the world of hanfu and other clothing martial artists would wear.
As a fabric choice I went with rough brown cottons, as Ziel lives in the Wastelands and does not care for expensive robes.
Then I started with Shuhe (first layer) - basic workers/training clothing and built around it, since Ziel in his current position would not wear much more than necessary.
As a second layer I went with basic open front Hanfu, in order to both show Shuhe underneath and to accent the image of Ziel of a refined genius Sacred Artist.
The Dai (sash) is the only decorative piece in the whole outfit. Dai by itself should be decorative, but I
