The `autofocus` attribute jumps focus past content that screen reader users haven't heard yet. There's an active proposal in the WHATWG spec for an `accessible-autofocus` attribute that delays focus until reading context is established. The spec thread feedback is "that should just be how autofocus works," which is the right take, but means the fix is coming slowly.
