You'd think the government would stick to established Web standards and not be tied to specific browser vendors!

Grounding AI the webby way — Taxonomy Boot Camp London 2026 takeaways
There was a heavy focus on artificial intelligence. But what really struck me was that the semantic approaches that are preparing us for our AI future are well-established web standards that have been around for decades.https://duncanstephen.net/grounding-ai-the-webby-way-taxonomy-boot-camp-london-2026-takeaways/

The Timed Text Working Group published IMSC Text Profile 1.3 as a W3C Recommendation.
IMSC Text Profile 1.3 is the most recent addition to the IMSC family of specifications for the authoring and delivery of subtitles and captions worldwide. The rich styling and structured markup make it an ideal choice for expressive subtitles and AI training sets.

The `autofocus` attribute jumps focus past content that screen reader users haven't heard yet. There's an active proposal in the WHATWG spec for an `accessible-autofocus` attribute that delays focus until reading context is established. The spec thread feedback is "that should just be how autofocus works," which is the right take, but means the fix is coming slowly.
