Waves moves to subscription model; am I a hypocrite for approving of this?

So i "ported" my Waves to Linux by copy/pasting the vst files and folders into a wine env. Yabridge showed no errors. Waveshells get scanned by Ardour.

But!

I have my licences on a USB and the activation doesn't seem to recognize it. Anyone an idea??
