About half a year ago I switched from Spotify to Tidal. While in a wider view the both are so similiar, that I would recommend the switch, here are a few things that bother me:

- when you pause a song on your phone and then want to continue to listen, it starts over the song.

- same thing happens with albums. Say you are listening to an album and you pause (i.e. because you need to attend a meeting at work) then come back and want to continue to listen after a while, it starts over the whole album (is this a cookie thing?)

- the phone app, the desktop app and the web player are not synced. So I can't listen to an album or a playlist on my way to work on my phone and then continue to listen to that same album or playlist on my computer at work. Instead it will start over (see above) the album that I was listening to yesterday on the web player.

In my day to day use those are just small things that bother me a little. Minor bugs really. I'd still recommend switching to Tidal or any other service that pays better per stream than spotify.

I do disagree with this assumption being not solely the fault of #Enshittification caused by #Streaming providers...

  • Because #MusicStreaming on the major platforms never "clicked" for me either.
    • Not because I didn't want i.e. #SoundCloud and #BandCamp to be good, but because the stuff I listen to is more often than not even "too niche" for them as well...

Scrolling and swiping up to jump through videos on social comes with a bit of a sore point: you might never find out what that song was. Fortunately, there's now a fix of sorts. https://www.pickr.com.au/news/2026/apple-tiktok-collaborate-to-let-you-listen-to-that-song #homeentertainment #news #online #apple #applemusic #musicstreaming #tiktok

This is how it looks when I pause and resume a single song listen using #Qobuz. I enjoy this platform, and I like the fair(er) payment to artists, but these things really really irk me. The apparently wrong implementation of the scrobble service and that the daily/weekly playlists are only available in the mobile client - just, why?!
