The household kiddo got given some new shapes of magnetic building tiles. Naturally, the adults snatched them up immediately to do barn design mockups.

We had two sort of small/medium horses when we first moved here, so we built a barn that’s really more of a large run-in shed to start with. We built it in a hurry and we built it cheaply, but it has kept the rain, wind, and sleet off the ponies for about 6 years now.

The thing is, last fall we adopted two new horses, and one of them is a Very Large draft horse. Now they could technically all fit in the barn, if they packed themselves in there like sardines. Some horses will totally do that. These four prefer a bit of personal space, so they use the barn as a time-share.

That’s been okay so far. Nobody has been cold. The one who needs a blanket is happy to wear a blanket. The rest of them are hairy enough to cope with the weather. But.

It would sure be nice to have a bigger shelter for them.

We’re thinking we’re just going to add another stretched hexagon to the current stretched hexagon. And actually put real roofing on, not just a tarp. Maybe we can get around to setting up rainwater catchment and filtering up there, too.

Water Harvesting, Catchment, and Conservation Open Source Portal

Water Harvesting, Catchment, and Conservation Open Source Portal: Rainwater harvesting methods and water catchment methods are another component of One Community's open source project-launch blueprinting strategy for building a global collaboration of self-sufficient and self-sustainable teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities for the Highest Good of All. Rainwater catchment and harvesting will be incorporated into all seven different village models, the SEGO Center City Hub, our sustainable food systems, and even our sustainable energy infrastructure. This page will function as the portal and hub for all of our water research, development, and on-going open source project-launch blueprinting of duplicable rainwater harvesting methods, water catchment techniques, and swale building strategies.

One Community Global Nonprofit

The Tropical Atrium Water Catchment page offers open-source, free-shared tutorials on water catchment, conservation, and recycling. Initially, we'll refine and demonstrate this strategy with the 3-dome cluster crowdfunding, then expand it for the Earthbag Village, Duplicable City Center®, and other villages.

#Sydney is among the few cities anywhere in the world to allow mining within its #watercatchment areas. Scientists have argued for years that the longwalls were causing cracks to reach the surface, diverting water away from some of the 1,000 upland swamps in the #Woronora plateau and reducing inflows into nearby dams.

Centennial Coal's plan to release more water into Sydney's drinking catchment will make pollution worse, expert says

Centennial Coal says releasing five Olympic swimming pools worth of "predominantly untreated groundwater" a day into a creek will improve its quality, but a water scientist says it'll worsen contamination.
