#ultrapodcast. We have seen all this before, and it was brave journalists and politicians willing to hold other politicians to account in House and Senate proceedings that saved our democracy. We need then to stand up today!

I just finished #rachelmaddow’s #UltraPodcast. Which makes me this many days old, since I knew that #woodyguthrie wrote a deliciously biting song about #CharlesLindbergh and the #AmericaFirst movement. Which sadly, could equally apply to many people today (*cough* tЯump GOP Russia).

Watching #RachelMaddow tonight bc I thought, oh she’s gonna cover the #TuckerCarlson outage, and #Maddow opens with things about very popular 1930s radio guy #FatherCaughlin (she went over this on the #UltraPodcast)

So I’m glad I’m tuning in.

Fr. Caughlin → Limbaugh → will #Tucker be the third in this lineup?

@Bullix @alfredo_liberal @Teri_Kanefield Sadly there are plenty of dumb/hateful people for whom Trump is their champion & then, there’s the super wealthy/connected/corrupt, for whom Trump is a vehicle for achieving their extreme ends. I’ve learned not to underestimate this unholy alliance. Also, if you’ve listened to the #UltraPodcast by #Maddow you’d know making a mockery of a #sedition trial is entirely plausible.

@GreenFire @carowe @SrRochardBunson Wait - wut. #Spielberg filming the #UltraPodcast story would be huge. Never even occurred to me but that would be a great story. Ultra is so insane it seems like parody or fiction but it actually happened in living memory. 🍿🍿🍿

So who has listened to #ultrapodcast and is blown away by the history of Nazi-backed sympathizers in the US? I mean actual US elected officials working directly with Nazi officials/spies. I’m disgusted more by the fact that this isn’t widely known than I am surprised that it happened. I’m not naive, I just can’t believe we as a country—who are so proud of our WW2 efforts—aren’t more aware that this happened.

I just heard on “Fresh Air” that Rachel Maddow’s “Ultra” podcast has been optioned by Steven Spielberg. Not only will the movie be entertaining, but the history of Nazi collaboration and attempts to bring fascism to the U.S. needs to have a wider audience, particularly in light of recent and ongoing events. Very good news, in my opinion. #ultrapodcast #spielberg #npr #freshair
