Also from the Open Slopware organisation:

"… nothing good can come of it if/when Graham and his reddit buddies find out they're blocked. …"

– that's a baseless, mean-minded, tawdry accusation.

Re: the screenshot here, the first of my three 'friends' is a test account that I created. Not truly a friend.

The second is a highly-upvoted contributor who had difficulty with his Reddit account. I spent many hours helping him, and silently working around some of the difficulties. Probably not a mutual friendship; I have no idea whether, or how, other people make use of the feature.

The third is u/TheSunflowerSeeds <https://www.reddit.com/user/TheSunflowerSeeds/> – an automated account, an app. A single upvote from me. I vaguely remember responding to a single comment a year or so ago. Until today I wasn't aware that it's non-human. I don't remember adding the account, I was probably testing something.

Those three aside: some writers gain more votes than others. It's as simple as that, and the colouring by Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) <https://redditenhancementsuite.com/> helps me to see, privately, when a disagreeable comment is written by someone who I frequently upvote.

The Open Slopware implication that I'm a rabble-rouser is just ugly. Is there a better word than "ugly"? Yes: sloppy.

Slop.

Human slop.

The false claims―that I followed someone to the Fediverse―seem to be malicious. I can neither trust, nor respect, individuals or organisations that adopt tactics such as this in response to public dissent.

The screenshot here shows that I did not follow. I wrote first on Sunday 29th March, in response to what appeared to be the first response to the opening post.

A quotation from Montaigne

A man must not always tell all, for that were folly: but what a man says should be what he thinks, otherwise ’tis knavery.

[Il ne faut pas tousjours dire tout, car ce seroit sottise : Mais ce qu’on dit, il faut qu’il soit tel qu’on le pense : autrement, c’est meschanceté.]

Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592) French essayist
Essays, Book 2, ch. 17 (2.17), “Of Presumption [De la Presomption]” (1578) [tr. Cotton/Hazlitt (1877)]

The Breaking Veil of Illusion

Truthfulness means seeing beyond deception. This artwork symbolizes the moment the mind breaks free from attachment and false perception to reveal the pure, unblemished reality underneath.

A quotation from George Orwell

I know it is the fashion to say that most of recorded history is lies anyway. I am willing to believe that history is for the most part inaccurate and biased, but what is peculiar to our own age is the abandonment of the idea that history could be truthfully written.
