It’s rare to find an album where nearly every song knocks your socks off. Triple Seven, the debut fill-length LP by the Indianapolis-based Indie band Wishy is one of those albums. Hmmm? An indie band from Indy…seems serendipitous doesn’t it?

On top of that, there are so many great songs on this record, that one has a tough time deciding on a favorite. There are four tracks that are constantly competing for that role in this author’s mind. Suffice it to say that each one is perfect for certain situations.
- “Sick Sweet” is an infectious party song that exudes fun, frolic, and festive revelry. It is a summertime delight to listen to and to watch on video the pure joy the band evokes from this song.
- “Busted” has an infectious guitar rhythm that evokes memories of some of Sonic Youth’s best music (to me). As my wife noted, it’s a great song to zone out to and just let it soak in.
- “Little While” is a shoegaze and dream-pop beacon of musical bliss and delight (see link below).
- “Honey” is good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll with catchy hooks and riffs.

In addition there are other enjoyable tracks including “Love On the Outside,” “Triple Seven,” “Persuasion,” and “Just Like Sunday.”
Triple Seven is Wishy’s third home run in just over a year, as the band’s two EPs (Mana and Paradise) are extremely entertaining records, as well. Now, I am wishying for them to come and play a show here in New Mexico…though I am quite willing to make a pilgrimage to hear such terrific music. Kudos to Wishy for making such great music and for making this fellow native of Naptown very proud. Peace!
