Workers of the Fediverse
Have you recently participated in an industry training program? Ie. coding bootcamp, apprenticeship readiness program, hospitality training or something similar?
Im attempting to gather information about what these programs can do to help eliminate barriers to participation. Did you need childcare? Transportation assistance? Supplemental income?
What was your experience with the program, and did it properly prepare you for a job in the industry?
Were you educated on your rights as a worker? (Labor Laws and regulations, safety training, right to organize your workplace, etc)
Bonus points if you are/were living and working in the US and if you are of the BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ community.
Please boost for reach!
Thank you!!

A new Oxfam and International Trade Union Confederation report shows that U.S. CEO compensation rose dramatically in the past year—over 25 %—while average hourly wages for private‑sector workers grew only about 1.3 % after inflation, leaving CEOs earning roughly 281 times more than a typical employee. The widening gap coincides with a broader affordability crisis: 65 % of consumers say price hikes outpace their incomes, inflation has climbed to 3.3 % in March, and roughly three‑quarters of Americans report tighter finances, with many cutting discretionary spending, dipping into savings, or taking extra jobs. The report links this disparity to systemic inequality and calls for stronger labor policies, such as raising the federal minimum wage and taxing the ultra‑wealthy; a proposed “Living Wage for All” bill would lift the minimum wage for large employers to $25 by 2031 and for smaller ones to $25 by 2038.

"Our dispute is over the decision by #Unite Management to unilaterally recognise a staff association with no mandate or majority support from within Unite Officers. This is something that not only goes against a democratic decision taken by the majority of Unite Officers, but stands in contrast to the very principles of collective responsibility, lay member-led decision making, and basic #TradeUnion values that Unite as both a trade union and our employer stands for."
