This is blatant victimisation for union activity.
It's also completely ridiculous.

Sonya should be reinstated, this should be condemned by government, and government should meet with the workers and instruct the HSE to treat them properly.

The workers at Northside Home Care will continue to fight with their union the IWU, but this intimidation must be ended.

In almost 25 years as a civil servant I have never felt the need to strike. The responsibility for keeping the country running always was too big. But to keep the line of the previous government and force civil servants - many of whom work in low paying jobs in prisons, customs, cleaning or water management - to forego ANY price compensation (nullijn in dutch) is such an affront that I had to join my colleagues in Rotterdam. Glad to live in a country where this kind of union action is allowed! #joinaunion #stopdenullijn

It was good to meet with Owen Reidy, General Secretary of ICTU this week in Leinster House alongside my colleagues Roderic and Malcolm.

‪I’m proud to have worked with ICTU for the past number of years, particularly in combatting narratives of the far right. I support their call for a right to collective bargaining.

The government must act and give these workers the pay parity they need, and treat them as the section 39 workers that they are!

Northside Home Care Healthcare Assistants were on strike outside the Dáil yesterday with their union the IWU.

These essential workers provide care daily to about 500 people. They're forced to take action because this government and the HSE refuses to give them their basic rights and recognition as section 39 workers.
