According to a report by the Washington Post, citing American officials, the U.S. Department of Defense, or Pentagon, is preparing for ground operations against Iran.
The report states that U.S. special forces will also be involved in operations within Iranian territory as part of these ground operations.
American officials told the Washington Post that it is not yet clear whether President Trump will approve these plans.
This comes after American media previously reported that the U.S. has deployed thousands of special forces to the Middle East for a potential ground war in Iran.
Military experts believe that America's advantage in a war with Iran lies primarily in its air force; if its ground forces enter Iran, they may be defeated on the battlefield by Iranians.
