@_GreyWolf Granted, that too is a #FeatureRegession I despise alongside the lack of real #DualSIM or removal of the #HeadphoneJack which are both indefensible when about a decade ago #Sony already made #Smartphones they advertised with underwater [pool] selfies and #ToolFree #SwappableBatteries !

@voxel @thenewoil personally, I refuse to buy any #phone that doesn't have #toolfree swappable & removeable batteries as a matter of principle.

I just don't accept #Enshittification!

@enobacon two hours is fucking optimistic.

  • Before the @EUCommission mandated #toolfree #bulb swaps, you could easily pay for two mechanics a whole workday just to uninstall the front of some cars, racking up 4 digit labour.bills.in the process...

@OldManTV @marcan The only disadvantages the @frameworkcomputer has is that they dont't support #ToolFree #HotSwapping of #batteries (which is essential to me!) nor have a 3rd M.2 (or MiniPCIe) slot for a #WWAN module (which is kinda important for many business setups, but then again could be fixed with like a #5G #module that plugs into the side with an external antenna. Problem may just be size constraints similar to the 2,5G Ethernet adaptor...)

I think #ToolFree #RemoveableBatteries should be made #mandatory per law as a matter of #FireSafety, #ConsumerProtection and #EnvoirmentalProtection.

@ocean to me, "#toolfree swappable.and fully removeable battery" is a non-negotiable must-have on every device that has a battery...

The only acceptable exceptions to me are "technical necessity" like:

  • IP68 waterproof (i.e. diving computer)
  • ATEX Certification (i.e. safety flashlight)
  • too high amperages (i.e. car battery)

The problem is inherent in the design of non - #ToolFree #replaceable #LithiumIon and #LithiumPolymer batteries AND the fact that this #dangerous #Battery design is even legal.

This problem doesn't exist with #LiFePO4 cells and those ain't that bad either...

In fact, they won't become #DangerPillow|s nor age terribly and they hold longer on lower partial discharges...
