Massively pleased that the #UK Rail Industry has done a #UTurn on its plans to close #TicketOffices. I submitted a letter to the watchdog about this back in August and I'm really glad the decision was made to keep them - helping those with disabilities ride the trains. They are incredibly important, especially for my job.
Great to see the government has stopped the proposal of ticket prices across the UK.
Disabled people rely on these offices as they are a place to go to and ask for help when using trains. #TicketOffices #Trains

Perhaps searching for good strap lines on local #election leaflets, Mark Harper (#Tory transport secretary) has stepped into to tell train operators they cannot (as part of cost-cutting proposals) close #TicketOffices.

Pressure gorups have received over 750k communications on this issue of which 99% were apparently opposed to the shouting of ticket offices.

Given the also increasingly apparent issue for #disabled passengers & thus likely legal challenge, the UTurn now seemed inevitable!

Plans to close hundreds of rail ticket offices in England have been scrapped.

Transport Secretary Mark Harper said the proposals did not meet "the high thresholds" set by the government.
