That's also the first time I've used my Rigol DS1052 digital oscilloscope for more than a year, and I still reckon that thing is close to Peak Oscilloscope User Experience.

It's fast, it's simple enough that you can find things, and it does the basics really well.

I mostly use a Rigol MSO5000 these days and I hate that it boots slowly, the UI is laggy, and you often have to dig deep in menus to do anything.

Ideal setup is probably the simple Rigol for quick jobs, and perhaps something like a ThunderScope + ngscopeclient on a computer for complex jobs.

@AmenZwa I just repaired my TDS220 scope from the 90s that is on permanent loan from a friend. I love it. That equivalent level of functionality should be cooked in at least.

I'm okay with a phone or pc app for advanced processing, but only if the interface protocol is entirely open source like the #thunderscope by @[email protected] for example.

I am not on board otherwise because that route leads to the landfill. See Lego mindstorm, Google chromebooks, etc.
