Morgan le Fay "espied [her husband] King Uriens lying in his bed sleeping. Then she called unto her a maiden of her counsel, and said, 'Go fetch me my lord’s sword, for I saw never better time to slay him than now.'"

The figure of Dagonet appeared in various Arthurian stories as either a cowardly buffoon or a violent lunatic until Thomas Malory codified him as King Arthur's court jester, who was so loyal that Arthur knighted him, and who loves to play pranks on Arthur's enemies.

I had completely forgotten that the past tense of "go" in the Middle English of Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur was occasionally not "went" but rather "yede": eg, "the knight yede away on his horse."

Only a small step from there to "the knight yeeted away"... :P
