AGI - È in viaggio verso i Paesi Bassi la nave da crociera MV Hondius, a bordo della quale è stato individuato un focolaio di hantavirus. Dopo aver agevolato lo sbarco degli ultimi passeggeri a bordo, la nave ha lasciato ieri dopo le 19 il porto di Granadilla de Abona, nell’arcipelago spagnolo delle Canarie.
“Si prevede che la MV Hondius impiegherà sei giorni per salpare fino a Rotterdam”, ha dichiarato la compagnia armatrice Oceanwide Expeditions in un comunicato, aggiungendo che una data di arrivo possibile sia quella della sera di domenica 17 maggio.
Equipaggio a bordo e passeggero deceduto
A bordo sono rimasti 25 membri dell’equipaggio e due componenti del personale medico. La nave trasporta anche il corpo di un passeggero tedesco deceduto durante la crociera.

I due aerei provenienti dall’arcipelago spagnolo delle Isole Canarie trasportavano in totale 28 persone, secondo il Ministero degli Esteri olandese. A bordo del primo aereo c’erano sei ex passeggeri Hondius (quattro australiani, un neozelandese e un britannico residenti in Australia): saranno ospitati in un centro di quarantena vicino all’aeroporto prima di partire per l’Australia. I sei, che indossavano camici medici bianchi e mascherine, sono scesi dall’aereo medico, stringendo borse bianche contenenti i loro effetti personali, prima di entrare nel terminal.

Il secondo velivolo trasportava 19 membri dell’equipaggio, un medico britannico, un epidemiologo dell’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS) e un altro del Centro Europeo per la Prevenzione e il Controllo delle Malattie (CEPM). Hanno indossato solo una maschera e grandi borse bianche contenenti i loro effetti personali.
