Today the second USB port died on my 4-PC KVM switch. With that I'm now only able to use it with 2 PCs and I need a minimum of 3. Since it boosted my productivity (apart from being very convenient), I just ordered a new one (the successor). Will have to wait another 10 days or so for delivery.

Starting to take shape: I’m combining PiKVM and a TESmart HKS0801A1U 8x1 HDMI KVM to access my homelab devices. I started with an unused Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, and just added the KVM.
Still sorting out how to get PiKVM to control input switching. The TESmart config utility (Windows only, “unhandled exception” errors) and networking (fixed IP address, no DHCP) leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully I can get remote input switching working.
Friends, I need help finding a nice physical, wired #KVM for my computers in the office. I don't want to spend "stupid" money on this.
I have a couple of x4 TESmart 4k KVMs that work great EXCEPT they don't pass through things like the multimedia keys and the like on fancier keyboards. They are supposed to work but don't IME. Please prove me wrong and suggest what I'm doing wrong?

All the problems I had with the PiKVM and TESmart KVM switch were fixed with this one cheap little device.
After many hours and testing, swapping, resetting, and EDID training, all of my PiKVM and TESmart issues were solved with with a simple, cheap dongle. If you aren’t aware of the struggles I faced when using the PiKVM with a TESmart switch, all of it is detailed in a previous post where I ended up settling on another switch altogether. That’s all changed now with a simple EDID emulator passthrough adapter (affiliate link). However, for the uninformed, I’ll summarize the symptoms I experienced with the PiKVM and TESmart KVM and how I was able to fix these issues.
