Dear Senator:

Please vote no on the nomination of Casey Means as surgeon general, should that nomination come out of committee.

I want my surgeon general to have completed a residency, hold an active medical license, and have practiced medicine for at least a decade. The surgeon general should also have public health expertise.

Casey Means meets none of these standards.

I do not want my surgeon general to be someone who profits from unregulated health products sold online.

I do not want my surgeon general to be a vaccine skeptic, and Means repeatedly refused to answer a direct question about whether she would encourage mothers to vaccinate their children against measles.

Herd immunity is a public good, one that helps ensure the health of every American. We need a surgeon general who understands and honors this.

Tell your colleagues on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to vote no on her nomination. Should the committee nominate her for surgeon general, then I expect you to loudly and actively oppose that nomination.
