Dear Senator/Representative:

I am 100% against President Trumps proposed arch. How many Washington, DC, institutions has he defaced? The White House East Wing. The Kennedy Center. The Institute of Peace. Battleships. A 250th anniversary coin.

His name on paper currency. Trump Rx. Trump Accounts. Trump Gold Cards. Banners with his name and face on government buildings. National Park passes.

Yet that’s not enough to assuage his ego.

I do not want a 250’ high, gold-accented arch that would dwarf the Lincoln Memorial and upstage Arlington National Cemetery. It also disrupts the symbolism of Arlington Memorial Bridge, which honored post-Civil War reconciliation.

It would be taller than “monuments to authoritarian triumphalism, including the victory arch in Pyongyang, North Korea,” according to the Washington Post.

When asked whom the arch would honor, Trump said: “Me.”

Unlike the controversial East Wing, this vanity project would use money from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Speak up and speak out. Oppose the NEH funding. Explore ways Congress can block this project.

Dear Senator/Representative -

I want you to support the Equal Tax Act because this country is not just for those 800 billionaires, it is for all 340 million of us.

The Equal Tax Act ensures wealthy investors pay the same tax rate on their income that working people pay on their income, by taxing investment income at the same rate as earned income for those earning over $1 million annually. It also eliminates one of the ways the wealthy avoid taxes by ending the stepped-up basis loophole with unprecedented protections for family farms and businesses.

Polls indicate 66% of voters support raising capital gains rates on the wealthy, consistent with years of polling indicating support for closing tax loopholes that benefit the wealthy (74%) and making millionaires and billionaires pay more in taxes (70%). This proposal delivers by raising significant revenue exclusively from households that have more than $1 million in annual income.

This needs to be a cornerstone policy moving ahead. Those living off the interest on their investments should not pay a lower tax rate than teachers, farmers, nurses, and firefighters.

It's the right thing to do.

U.S. Postal Service is a public service. Rural areas are home to 16% of the US population but represent 88% of the land area served by USPS. An Institute for Policy Studies report found that FedEx and UPS apply delivery surcharges to zip codes that are home to almost one-third of the U.S. population, all of them rural. USPS delivers about 1.2 billion prescription drug shipments each year; veterans receive 80% of their outpatient prescriptions via the mail.

I want you to fight the privatization of the USPS. Attempts to compare our postal system with France, Germany or the UK rest on a false geographic premise. Countries with large land masses (Australia and Canada) have public postal services.

Acknowledge that the USPS is a public good requiring public funding, just as we fund rural highways. Rationalize the post office network where genuine duplication exists in urban and suburban areas. Halt the DeJoy-era consolidation that routes local mail through regional hubs, creating delays and additional costs. Look at alternative revenue sources such as check cashing and basic financial services, particularly in rural communities and inner-city communities that have lost their local banks.

Fix the USPS budget for the good of everyone.

I need you to regulate Polymarket and ban insider trading.

On April 8, AP reported that new accounts “made highly specific, well-timed bets totaling $170 million on whether the U.S. and Iran would reach a ceasefire on April 7. The bets resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits for these new customers.” Three accounts made almost a half million dollars. This mirrors bets placed on the start of the Iran War.

Traders spent $529 million on contracts tied to the timing of the initial attack on February 28. Six newly created wallets made a profit of $1.2 million by correctly betting that the U.S. would strike Iran by that date. One account turned $61,000 into almost a half million.

Earlier this year, a Polymarket account earned almost $500,000 from a $38,500 investment in contracts tied to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Its largest trades were placed merely hours before the secret military action became public.

Current insider trading law only covers securities. Federal wire fraud statutes do not apply. And the primary Commodity Futures Trading Commission anti-fraud device for commodity derivatives also does not apply.

New rules for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) mean we now need legislation that specifically requires the performance of disparate impact analysis to seek out examples of lending discrimination.

I want you to require the CFPB to conduct regular examinations of the algorithms, zip code filters, and loan approval rates of banks and other lending institutions to see how these approvals break out along racial and gender lines.

This used to be the actual job of the #CFPB, but this Republican Administration just stripped disparate impact analysis from the Equal Opportunity Credit Act. Under the new rules, lending discrimination would only be considered to exist done deliberately and documented, like saying "no, because she's a woman" or "no, because he lives in a poor neighborhood" on the application.

Banks and lenders were held accountable if their policies disproportionately harmed women, people of color, or low-income borrowers. That's how the CFPB caught banks redlining and locking entire communities out of homeownership and credit.

The CFPB is abandoning its legislatively mandated mission to ensure credit markets are fair and free of discrimination and I need you to fix this. I need you to codify the examination of potential lending discrimination into law in ways that protect all Americans.

On March 31, President Trump signed yet another executive order attempting to exert control over elections, a power the Constitution has vested in the states, not the Executive Branch. His prior order has been blocked by the courts as unconstitutional.

This Presidential overreach is unconstitutional and every Congressional member should make that clear. I want you to speak out on the floor on this Constitutional overreach so that your comments appear in the Congressional Record.

This unconstitutional order would develop a federal list of eligible voters in each state and insert the US Postal Service into vote-by-mail programs, which President Trump contends – without evidence – are insecure.

The President is attempting an unconstitutional end run around Congress, which has refused to pass the Trump-endorsed SAVE America Act.

Make it clear you will not stand for it. Your citizens are watching and waiting.

First off, I want you to end this war with Iran. I want you to denounce every war crime this Republican Administration is planning and committing.

I want you to be very vocal about your support of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), an entity created by a previous Republican Administration in response to the importance of safety to the flying public.

I saw that this Republican Administration want airport security to be returned to a private sector job where the contract would go to the lowest bidder.

I am absolutely against privatizing something as important as airport security.

I want my airport security staff to be professional, well-trained, paid a fair wage and benefits, with opportunities to advance their careers.

Raising taxes on the top US earners would more than pay for the security and professionalism we all deserve and ensure that TSA officers are at all US airports.

On the Wednesday before Easter, President Trump insisted to a private audience that Medicare, Medicaid, and child care must be off-loaded to the states (funding and managing) because “[w]e’re fighting wars… We have to take care of one thing: military protection. We have to guard the country.”

This war is not “guarding” the country. We started it. We are the ones making the world unsafe. We are causing the rift between the US and our post-WWII allies.

This weekend, the president threatened attacks on civilian targets that if carried out, would constitute further war crimes.

Congress must put a stop to this illegal war. Every member of Congress who does not stop this war is complicit in this Republican Administration’s war crimes.

I want you to take legislative action to undo the recently announced change to the Forest Service.

I am appalled by gutting of the US Forest Service. This Republican Administration has announced that it is shuttering all 10 regional offices, and with them,the career professionals who spent entire lifetimes earning the expertise and the authority to push back on ideas that would harm long-term forest health.

They are closing the rural science research facilities in 31 states, labs that house decades of irreplaceable science on the forests that help generate the rain that falls on the US. And they’re replacing all of it with 15 political appointees called “state directors,” embedded in state capitals alongside the very governors, legislators, and industry lobbyists who have spent their careers demanding that the Forest Service log more and protect less.

The technical experts they are losing are the people who know exactly what logging will ruin what watershed.

I am asking you to stand with every member of Congress and uphold the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt with legislation that keeps science and the public at the forefront of decision-making about public lands. Protect National Forest land.
