Anyone tried #Strawbale #gardening? I've seen a lot of conflicting advice on it (which I suspect may be due to the differing treatments applied to the straw before it was baled...but I'd imagine it would be really difficult to grow plants in a bale made of straw that had been treated with a persistent herbicide).

Just looking to gather a bit more anecdotal data, really. Any input is appreciated!

Explainer: this is an extreme renovation because they can. You can also see this as an opportunity for massive CARBON STORAGE. These are huge and very tight bales , 70cm. The typical #strawbale is 36cm over here and this is usually plenty good enough to meet #passivehouse insulation for retrofits.
