Spent all day with mom yesterday, and will breakfast there again before heading to Wenatchee to meet the realtor who I hope is not a crook and who seems to not be a crook at least so far. Then back to mom. Ellensburg to Wenatchee. It's cold and rainy, but not cold enough for anything to freeze so the trip should be fine.
Meanwhile, please appreciate this fox who has just arrived safely in NYC.

AUCKLAND, This Day.
A complaint regarding the ease with which #stowaways gain admission to the Dominion was made to the Minister of Justice, Sir James #Parr by a deputation from the Southern Cross League.
Mrs. Nicol said there had been cases where stowaways had been taken before local Magistrates, and as the charges were dismissed they were allowed to remain in New Zealand.… masters of vessels were now not taking the trouble to prosecute.

The Minister agreed that the question was of importance, and when admitted the careers of deserters and stowaways should be watched very closely for the first year.… he had to consider the question seriously, when, as stated, a responsible police officer had said that some of the worst criminals reached the country in this way.

Mrs. Nicol asked whether the Minister could not tighten up the jurisdiction given to Magistrates.
Sir James replied that as Minister of Justice he could not, and would not, interfere with any Magistrate.

The two #stowaways on the Rotorua, who were arrested by Constable Johnston when they were trying to steal ashore under cover of night, appeared for sentence before Mr. E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Sub-Inspector Cummings said that the accused Frank White, 23 years of age, and George French, 19 years, were #deserters from the American Navy, but the Government of this country, according to the American Consul, did not want to have anything to do with them. Neither of them were wanted in the Dominion. If they could be sent back to America on the Rotorua arrangements could be made by the Consul to have them arrested on their arrival. A remand for another week was granted to enable further inquiries to be made.
